Calling the aquaero a fan controller is formally correct, but misses the core as well as declaring a Ferrari as a car. With the version 5, the controller now reaches a state of development that makes the aquaero without exaggeration the best fan and water control ever. The range of functions is simply incredible and will satisfy even the most meticulous control freaks completely.
The aquaero 5 is offered in three different stages, which are not functionally different. The differentiation is rather based on the controls, which are correspondingly larger and more comfortable to the larger models.
This is the top model aquaero 5 XT. Compared to the LT version, this is installed in a 5.25-inch slot of the housing and has a display. In contrast to the Pro output, there are more buttons on the front panel. More important, however, is the external infrared control unit, which is already included here.
This provides a complete keyboard and can even replace the mouse. Thus, it not only allows extensive control options, but also the complete control of the PC from the sofa. The internal connection takes place via USB 2.0 and is native, which is why no drivers are required and, for example, even allows the use of the remote control in the BIOS.
But also the core of the functionality - the fan and water cooling control - was significantly drilled out. First, four fans can be connected directly. Each channel is now loadable up to 1.65 amps. In contrast to the Pro version, the power amplifiers are also equipped with a cooler. If necessary, however, this can also be exchanged for a Wakü model.
In addition to three 3-pin, a 4-pin PWM connector (alternatively for 3-pin usable) is available, so that corresponding fans can be controlled. With the additionally available Poweradjust 2, six additional fans can be connected.
In addition, eight temperature sensors can be connected. However, this is far from over, because among other things via Aquabus and two other PWM connections, many other devices can be connected and controlled. The sophistication of the system is especially evident when looking at the new Aquasuite software, because all of the connected components are networked and can be controlled in relation to each other.
Especially for water cooling is very interesting to control the connected fan on the radiator depending on the measured water temperature. Even complex curves to increase the speed can be programmed with increasing water temperature. Various profiles for different areas of application (eg OC, Gaming, Office, Video) and even Eventlogs allow a variety of variations.
This makes the aquaero controller not only extremely practical and takes care of a permanent fine adjustment, but also prepares a lot of fun while fiddling and extending the control bandwidth.
