The FX4, which was produced beginning in 1958, characterises the appearance of the typically black-painted classic British taxi. Black was never officially prescribed for taxis, but it generally won out as such, since most FX4s were delivered in this colour. This 55 HP-strong car possessed a diesel motor featuring 2,178 ccm cubic capacity, which offered sufficient drawing power for inner-city personal transport.

Although this car, which was capable of up to 95 kilometers per hour, was used throughout the country, local culture described it as the 'London Taxi' because of its frequency in the country's capital, where it was often seen as a regular fixture on the city's streets. FX4 has constantly been altered and improved over the course of the years. The final model ended production in 1997.
