Das Keyboard 5QS is the second generation of the intelligent 5Q keyboard, which with the integrated Das Keyboard Q technology offers innovative ways to increase productivity. With individually adjustable key lighting, information such as weather, stock market prices, project progress or CPU utilization can be color-coded so that everything important is available at a glance.

In addition to RGB-LED lighting, the keyboard also offers other configuration options, including four different RGB profiles and a macro editor. With the unique Q key, which is also used for volume control, the notifications stored on the buttons can be called up quickly in a preview, whereby the focus remains on the essentials.

Das Keyboard 5QS: Everything in focus
The 5QS offers a unique feature that turns a classic input device into a detailed, customizable and informative control center. Thanks to the integrated Das Keyboard Q technology , individual LED notifications can be created, which leaves more space on the screen for other things. The notifications can be configured as desired in the Das Keyboard Q app and brought into focus via a preview using the Q key , which also serves as a volume control.

Adjustments are made by adding applets, which are then simply dragged and dropped onto individual keys or key groups. The functionality of these applets is almost limitless thanks to the open source API, but the basic applets also offer access to weather, stock market prices, project progress or CPU utilization.
Omron mechanical gamma-Zulu key switches
The Gamma-Zulu key switches from Omron are used exclusively on Das Keyboard keyboards . When typing, they give a gentle tactile feeling, which is very similar to that of the Cherry MX Brown. As a result, they give audible feedback without disturbing you with a loud click. With a trigger pressure of approx. 45 grams and a low trigger height of 1.5 millimeters, a high writing speed can be achieved.

With a full stop of 3.5 millimeters to the floor, they remain comfortable and easy to grip. With a maximum load of up to 100 million keystrokes, these switches play with gold-plated double crosspoint contactsalso in the top league in terms of durability. Thanks to RGB + (requires a USB 3.0 connection) , the 5QS offers 16.8 million colors with particularly intense luminosity so that the customizable notifications of the keyboard are also shown to their best advantage in daylight . Key caps made of polybutylene terephthalate, or PBT for short , are used for the US-layout keyboard offered here . These are manufactured using the double-shot process and are significantly more robust than keys made from ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene).
The 5QS also has a gaming mode with full USB N-Key rollover . As a result, any number of buttons can be pressed simultaneously without ghosting or other delays. A further increase in productivity can be achieved with the integrated macro editor for recording keystrokes.

The keyboard can be switched to Mac mode using a key combination so that the key assignment is adapted to the Apple operating system.

The anodized aluminum surface rounds off the design of the keyboard. The removable palm rest supports the wrists when typing for a long time and the 2 m long USB cable makes cable management easier.

Informative RGB-LED lighting
The highlight of the Das Keyboard 5QS is the lighting called RGB + , which is characterized by high luminosity and 16.8 million different colors. With the help of the Das Keyboard Q app , this can be adjusted down to the smallest detail.

For example, configured notifications can be coded in different color levels. For example, an approaching deadline could initially be shown from green to yellow and finally red. The integrated RGB profile editor , which already has preconfigured profiles, can be used to create and save up to 4 profiles.
